Sweet buns made from yeast dough, steamed to perfection, served with a sauce made from fried plums. Delicious at any time of the day!
Ingredients
Yeast Dough:
- Sugar – 100 g
- Vanilla sugar – 1 packet
- Butter – 50 g
- Wheat flour type 450 – 300 g
- Whole milk (3.2% fat) – 150 ml
- Salt – a pinch
- Fresh yeast – 22 g
Plum Sauce:
- Honey – 2 tablespoons
- Cinnamon – 0.5 teaspoon
- Plums – 0.5 kg
Preparation
Yeast Dough:
- Mix yeast with sugar and vanilla sugar until they become liquid.
- Heat the milk to a temperature of about 40°C and add it to the yeast mixture.
- Sift half a cup of flour into a bowl, make a well in the middle, and pour in the milk and yeast mixture. Mix to form a sponge, cover the bowl with a cloth, and let it rest for 15-20 minutes until it rises.
- Mix the sponge with the remaining flour, melted butter, and a pinch of salt. Knead the dough until it starts to come off the hands. Let it rise until it doubles in volume.
- Shape the dough into 12-14 equal balls, place them on a floured board, and let them rise. If you have a steam oven, place the risen dumplings in it. If not, prepare a pot with boiling water (the water should always be boiling over low heat), and place a cloth tied to the edge of the pot or a special steaming attachment on top.
- Place the dumplings on the cloth, cover them with a bowl that fits well over the edge of the pot, and steam for 10-12 minutes.
Plum Sauce:
- Quarter the plums and fry them with honey until the fruits completely break down.
- Towards the end, add cinnamon, mix well.
- Serve the hot dumplings with warm plum sauce.
