Rose-shaped Apple Cupcakes

Rose-shaped Apple Cupcakes

A perfect dessert recipe for both kids and adults – cupcakes with apple filling in the shape of beautiful roses!

Ingredients

Filling

  • Sugar – 30 g
  • Sugar – 50 g
  • Cinnamon – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Butter – 25 g
  • Apple juice – 300 ml
  • Red apple – 2 pieces

Cake

  • Powdered sugar – 60 g
  • Egg – 1 piece
  • Butter – 125 g
  • Salt – a pinch
  • All-purpose flour – 190 g

Additional

  • Butter – 25 g

Preparation

Step 1: Prepare the Dough Cut the butter into pieces. Add the egg yolk (we won’t use the egg whites) and quickly knead with the remaining cake ingredients. If necessary, add a little cold water. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Step 2: Cook the Apples in Juice Wash the apples, quarter them, remove the seeds, and slice them thinly, about 3-4 mm thick. Bring the apple juice to a boil with sugar. Add the apple slices and cook for 2-3 minutes until they become flexible but not falling apart. Carefully remove and drain.

Melt the butter. Mix sugar with cinnamon.

Step 3: Make Rose Shapes from the Dough Roll out the dough thinly on a bit of flour to a thickness of 3 mm and cut into strips (about 40 x 3 cm). Then brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Arrange apple slices along the longer edge, overlapping slightly, with the peel edge slightly protruding over the dough edge. Roll up the dough, starting from the shorter edge, to form small roses. Place them in greased muffin tin cavities and refrigerate for another 15 minutes.

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 25 minutes. Cool, then carefully remove from the tin. Serve with whipped cream.
