Caramel with apples, an enchanting combination of flavors.
Ingredients
- Heavy cream 30%, 300 grams
- Powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons
- Tea biscuits, 1 package
- Apples, 3 pieces
- Lemon, 1 piece
- Ground cinnamon, 1/3 teaspoon
- Ground cardamom, a pinch
- Whole cloves, 5 pieces
- Brown sugar, 3/4 cup
Preparation
Peel and dice the apples into approximately 1 cm cubes. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and drizzle it over the chopped apples to prevent them from browning. Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and ground cloves to the apples. Mix everything well and set aside for at least half an hour to allow the apples to release their juices.
In the meantime, whip the cream with powdered sugar, and crush the tea biscuits into crumbs.
When the apples release their juices, mix them once again. Pour the remaining brown sugar into a dry pan and when it starts to caramelize, add the apples along with the juice they released and quickly mix. Remove from heat and let it cool.
In dessert cups, layer whipped cream, then a layer of cooled caramelized apples, and sprinkle a layer of crushed tea biscuits on top. Repeat the process until all ingredients are used up. Garnish the top with whipped cream and cinnamon.
