The Mai Tais is a Polynesian-style cocktail known for its tropical flavours. The combination of light rum, triple sec, orgeat syrup, orange juice and pineapple juice creates a refreshing and fruity drink that’s perfect for a summer’s day or a beach party. With its vibrant colours and optional fruit garnish, this cocktail is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate. The umbrella garnish adds a playful touch that’s sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. light rum
  • 0.75 oz. triple sec
  • 0.75 oz. orange syrup
  • 3 oz. orange juice
  • 3 oz. pineapple juice
  • dash of grenadine
  • 151 oz. rum
  • dash of dark rum
  • crushed ice (fill glass to the top)
  • fruit (such as maracino cherries or pineapple and umbrella to garnish, optional)

Method:

Fill a glass to the top with crushed ice.

Pour the light rum, triple sec, orgeat syrup, orange juice and pineapple juice into a cocktail shaker. Shake well.

Pour over the crushed ice in the glass.

Add a splash of Grenadine, 151 Rum and dark rum to the glass.

Stir gently to combine.

Garnish with maraschino cherries, pineapple and an umbrella if desired.
