Palomas are a refreshing cocktail traditionally made with grapefruit soda or juice, tequila and lime, served over ice. This frozen version adds a dash of pomegranate juice for extra flavour and a cool, slushy texture.
Ingredients:
- Chilli powder, to garnish glasses
- Kosher salt
- 1 lime wedge
- 4 oz ruby grapefruit juice
- 4 oz. Tequila
- 2 oz. light agave syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz pomegranate juice
- Crushed ice
- 2 slices ruby red grapefruit, to garnish
Method:
Mix the chilli powder and kosher salt on a small plate. Rim two glasses with the lime wedge, then dip the rims into the chilli powder and salt mixture to coat. Set aside.
In a blender, pour the ruby red grapefruit juice, tequila, agave syrup, fresh lime juice and pomegranate juice.
Add a generous amount of ice to the blender. The more ice you add, the thicker and slushier the drink will be.
Blend on high speed until smooth and slushy. Add more ice if necessary to achieve the desired consistency.
Pour the frozen Paloma mixture into the prepared glasses.
Garnish each glass with a wedge of ruby red grapefruit on the rim.
Serve immediately and enjoy your Frozen Palomas with their tangy grapefruit flavour, tequila kick and refreshing icy texture.
