Cookies and Cream Ice Cream is a beloved classic that combines the rich flavour of vanilla ice cream with the satisfying crunch of chocolate sandwich cookies. It’s a simple yet indulgent treat that appeals to children and adults alike. The contrast between the smooth, creamy base and the cookie bits creates a delightful texture that makes this ice cream a favourite for many.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup crushed Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies (about 15 cookies), separated
- 2 cups half-and-half cream
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
Method:
In a large bowl, combine the half-and-half, heavy whipping cream, granulated sugar and vanilla extract. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
Pour the mixture into your ice-cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
A few minutes before churning is complete, add the crushed Oreo cookies to the ice-cream maker. Reserve some of the cookie pieces for garnishing if desired.
Once the ice cream has reached a soft-serve consistency, transfer to a freezer-safe container.
If you prefer a firmer texture, place the container in the freezer for about 2 hours or until the desired consistency is achieved.
Serve the cookies and cream ice cream in bowls or cones, garnished with the remaining crushed Oreo cookies.
