Banana Pancake Dippers

Banana Pancake Dippers

A playful twist on traditional pancakes, Banana Pancake Dippers combine the popular flavour of bananas with the comfort of fluffy pancakes and a hint of indulgent chocolate. This recipe transforms a classic breakfast into a fun and portable treat that’s perfect for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients:

Pancake batter:

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Banana pancake dippers:

  • 3 bananas, halved and sliced lengthways
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Melted chocolate, for dipping

Method:

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, brown sugar and kosher salt.

In another bowl, whisk together the whole milk, sour cream, eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine. Set aside.

Heat a large frying pan or griddle over medium heat and add the butter. Allow the butter to melt and coat the pan evenly.

Dip each banana half into the prepared pancake batter, making sure it is well coated.

Place the batter-coated banana halves on the hot frying pan or griddle. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Remove the cooked banana pancakes from the pan and transfer to a serving plate.

Serve warm with melted chocolate for dipping.

If desired, drizzle or dip the Banana Pancake Dippers in melted chocolate for an extra indulgent treat. You can use semi-sweet, milk or dark chocolate to taste.
