Ingredients
- All-purpose flour (480 g) – 3 cups
- Chilled butter – 250 g
- Baking powder – 2 teaspoons
- Powdered sugar – 4 tablespoons + extra for dusting
- Vanilla homogenized cheese – 140 g
- Egg – 1
- Apples (e.g. renet) – about 2 kg
- Vanilla sugar – 1 packet
- Cinnamon – 1 ½ teaspoons
Preparation
To prepare, start by mixing the dough. Place the flour in a bowl or on a work surface, add the cold butter cut into pieces, baking powder, and powdered sugar. Mix these ingredients into a crumbly texture, then add the vanilla homogenized cheese and egg and combine until you have a smooth dough. Divide the dough into two halves. Place one half in the refrigerator or freezer and spread the other half evenly on the bottom of a baking dish approximately 23 x 35 cm in size. You can press the dough into place with your fingers.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Cut the apples in half, peel them, and remove the cores. Arrange the apple halves side by side in the dish with the cut side down. Sprinkle the apples with vanilla sugar and then with cinnamon.
Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the apples. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until golden brown. Once baked, dust with powdered sugar. It can be served with ice cream.
