Chocolate Cake Protein Balls

Packed with the goodness of oats, cocoa and protein powder, these delicious balls are a guilt-free way to satisfy your chocolate cravings. Whether you’re looking for a post-workout boost or a sweet afternoon pick-me-up, these protein balls are sure to hit the spot.

Ingredients:

  • 4 heaped tablespoons oat flour (Mornflake Superfast Oats blend)
  • 1 heaped tablespoon Mornflake Oat Bran
  • 2 heaped tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar or sweetener of choice (I used 1 tablespoon stevia)
  • 30g scoop of chocolate whey protein powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 200ml water
  • 100ml (or more) milk of choice
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon cream cheese
  • 150g chocolate of choice (72% dark chocolate used here)

Method:

In a large bowl, mix together the oat flour, oat bran, cocoa powder, liquid sweetener, protein powder, salt and baking powder.

Add the water and milk to the dry ingredients and mix well. The mixture should be thick and sticky.

Put the mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes to firm up and make it easier to work with.

Once cooled, take small portions of the mixture and roll into balls.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate in 30 second increments, stirring occasionally, until smooth.

Dip each protein ball into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s completely coated.

Place the chocolate coated balls on a baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper.

Place the protein balls in the fridge until the chocolate has set, about 15-20 minutes.

Store the chocolate cake protein balls in an airtight container in the fridge.
