Chocolate muffins, with the right decorations, take on a spooky character just in time for Halloween!
Ingredients:
- Sugar – 90 g
- Powdered sugar – 200 g
- Dark chocolate – 125 g
- Egg – 1 piece
- Butter – 75 g
- Buttermilk – 250 ml
- Wheat flour – 300 g
- Licorice – 175 g
- Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
- Salt – a pinch
Instructions:
Step 1: Combine the Ingredients for the Batter
- Melt and cool the butter. Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Chop 125 g of licorice and chocolate into small pieces. Set aside 30 g of chocolate, and add the rest along with the chopped licorice to the dry ingredients mixture and combine them.
Step 2: Bake the Muffins
- Beat the egg, buttermilk, and cooled butter. Add them to the dry ingredients mixture and briefly mix. Then pour the batter into muffin tin cups lined with paper liners. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for 25-30 minutes. Allow them to cool.
Step 3: Decorate the Muffins
- Sift the powdered sugar and mix it with a small amount of water until you get a thick icing. Trim the remaining licorice, shaping it into oval eyes. Cover the muffins with a thick layer of icing and attach 2 pieces of licorice as eyes. Let them dry. Melt the remaining chocolate in a double boiler. Pour it into a freezer bag and snip off a small corner. Use the chocolate to decorate the muffins, forming nostrils and mouth of a skull. Allow them to dry.
