This is one of the easiest apple cakes to make, requiring no culinary skills whatsoever. Just mix everything well, pop it in the oven, wait for about an hour, and voila – your cake is ready!
Ingredients
For an 18-20 cm diameter cake pan or a larger loaf pan:
- Apples: 1.2 kilograms
- Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Semolina: 1 cup
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Sugar: 0.75 grams
- Baking powder: 1.5 teaspoons
- Vanilla sugar: 16 grams
- Fine-grain iodized sea salt: a pinch
- Butter: 120 grams
Preparation
- Chill the butter in the freezer.
- Apples: Peel and grate the apples using the coarse side of a grater. Optionally, mix the fruits with cinnamon.
- Dry ingredients: Thoroughly combine the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, semolina, baking powder, and salt. Divide the mixture into 3 equal parts.
- Assembly: Evenly sprinkle the first portion of dry ingredients onto the bottom of a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Then, layer with 1/2 of the grated apples, followed by dry ingredients, apples again, and finally dry ingredients. Do not press the apples to remove excess juice, nor pat them down onto the cake. Sprinkle the top of the cake with coarsely grated butter.
- Baking: Bake the apple cake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 60 minutes. Allow it to cool before slicing.
