Prepare round cookies with orange glaze and plenty of walnuts!
Ingredients
- Sugar – 50 g
- Powdered sugar – 150 g
- Candied orange peel – 3 tablespoons
- Butter – 125 g
- Honey – 50 g
- Walnuts – 125 g
- Orange – 1 pc.
- Baking powder – a pinch
- Salt – a pinch
- Wheat flour – 150 g
Preparation
Step 1: Knead the Dough Finely grind the walnuts. Knead with diced butter, sugar, honey, salt, flour, and baking powder. Work the dough until smooth, adding, if necessary, 1 tablespoon of cold water. Place the dough in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
Step 2: Bake the Wreaths Then, from the dough sprinkled with flour, form thin rolls (about 1 cm in diameter). Cut into pieces and braid them into wreaths (about 6 cm in diameter), pressing the ends tightly. Place them on baking sheets lined with parchment paper (if you don’t put them in the oven immediately, put the sheets back in the refrigerator). Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 14 minutes until golden brown. Leave on the baking sheet to cool.
Step 3: Glaze the Wreaths Finely chop the remaining walnuts and candied orange peel. Sift powdered sugar and gradually add enough orange juice to create a not too liquid glaze. Spread the wreaths with it. Finally, sprinkle the wreaths with a mixture of walnuts and let them dry.
