Red Sangria is a classic Spanish-inspired cocktail that combines the richness of red wine with the freshness of seasonal fruit and a hint of brandy. This lively drink is perfect for gatherings, parties or just a relaxing evening at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 (750ml) bottle of red wine (such as Rioja, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 3/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (to taste)
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 apple, sliced
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 (3 inch) cinnamon stick
Method:
Wash and slice the orange and apple.
Rinse blueberries and strawberries.
In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the red wine, fresh orange juice, brandy and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Add the orange slices, apple slices, blueberries, strawberries and cinnamon stick to the pitcher. Stir gently to combine.
Cover the jar with cling film or a lid and chill for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavours to meld.
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice and spoon the sangria into each glass along with some fruit.
Garnish with additional orange or apple slices if desired.
Serve and enjoy your refreshing Red Sangria!
