Puppy Chow

Puppy Chow

Puppy Chow, also known as Muddy Buddies, is a classic American snack that combines the flavors of chocolate, peanut butter, and powdered sugar with crunchy cereal. It’s a sweet and addictive treat that’s perfect for parties, movie nights, or anytime you’re craving something indulgent.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup peanut butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 10 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar

Method:

Place the Rice Chex cereal in a large bowl and set aside.

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Alternatively, you can melt these ingredients in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.

Stir in the pure vanilla extract and kosher salt into the melted chocolate mixture until fully incorporated.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the Rice Chex cereal. Use a spatula or large spoon to gently fold and stir until all the cereal is evenly coated with the chocolate mixture.

Place the confectioners’ sugar in a large resealable plastic bag or a large bowl. Add the chocolate-coated cereal mixture to the bag or bowl. Seal the bag or cover the bowl with a lid and shake vigorously until the cereal is evenly coated with the confectioners’ sugar.

Spread the Puppy Chow onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper to cool and set. Once cooled, transfer to an airtight container for storage. Enjoy your Puppy Chow as a sweet snack anytime!
