These delicious baked pancakes, often called Dutch baby pancakes, puff up in the oven and fall down when they cool. Made with eggs, milk, flour and vanilla, German pancakes are a comforting breakfast treat. Serve warm, sprinkled generously with powdered sugar and syrup.

German pancakes, often called Dutch baby pancakes, are baked pancakes made from eggs, milk, flour and vanilla. They puff up in the oven and fall down when they cool.

Ingredients:

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 tablespoons butter

Method:

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Place the butter in an ungreased 9×13 inch metal baking pan and melt in the preheated oven.

Place the eggs, milk, flour, salt and vanilla in a mixer. Blend until smooth.

Pour the mixture into the baking tin on top of the melted butter.

Bake for 22-27 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and puffed up.

Serve warm with a generous sprinkling of icing sugar and syrup.
