Old Timber

Old Timber

Old Timber is a sophisticated cocktail that combines the boldness of rye whiskey with the herbal bitterness of fernet and the sweet citrus notes of triple sec. This drink is a nod to classic mixology, where balance and simplicity reign supreme.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 ounces (45ml) Rye Whiskey (such as Bulleit)
  • 1/4 ounce (7ml) Jelínek Czech-style Fernet, Fernet Leopold or Fernet Francisco (see notes)
  • 1/4 ounce (7ml) triple sec, such as Combier or Cointreau
  • Cinnamon stick and orange twist, to garnish

Method:

Chill your glass: Place a cocktail glass in the freezer to chill.

Combine ingredients: In a mixing glass, pour the rye whiskey, Czech-style fernet and triple sec.

Stir: Add ice to the mixing glass and stir well until the outside of the glass feels cold.

Strain: Strain the mixture into your chilled cocktail glass.

Garnish: Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange twist.
