Nutella Hand Pies

Experience the joy of baking with Nutella Hand Pies. This recipe combines the flaky goodness of puff pastry, the sweet delight of Nutella and a hint of citrus from the orange zest. It’s a treat that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, defrosted
  • 3 tablespoons Nutella
  • 1-2 teaspoons grated orange zest

For the glaze:

  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • Additional Nutella (optional)

Method:

Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash.

Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.

Cut the pastry into squares or circles, as you prefer.

Spread about a tablespoon of Nutella on half of the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.

Sprinkle grated orange zest over the Nutella.

Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash, then place a second piece of pastry on top. Press the edges together to seal.

Brush the tops with more egg wash.

Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

While the pies are baking, mix together the icing sugar, orange juice and grated orange zest to make the glaze.

When the cakes are done, allow them to cool slightly and then drizzle with the icing and additional Nutella if desired.
