Matcha green tea mochi

Craving a unique dessert inspired by Asian cuisine? Try delicious, chewy mochi with the addition of matcha green tea.

Ingredients:

Mochi:

  • rice flour – 200 g
  • powdered sugar – 100 g
  • salt – a pinch
  • matcha green tea – 250 ml

Filling:

  • peanut butter – 4 tablespoons
  • honey – 2 tablespoons

Additionally:

  • potato starch

Preparation:

Mochi:

Step 1: prepare the dough In a bowl, mix rice flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Pour hot matcha green tea over the dry ingredients and mix very thoroughly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and microwave for about 2 minutes. Mix the dough again thoroughly using a wet spatula. Microwave the dough again for about 30 seconds until it becomes slightly translucent.

Step 2: knead the dough Sprinkle potato starch on a work surface, place the dough on it, and sprinkle more potato starch on top of the dough. Knead the dough until it becomes elastic, then divide it into 10-12 equal portions.

Step 3: shape and serve the mochi Flatten each portion into a disk, place a small amount of filling on each one, and close it to form a ball.

Tip! If the mochi balls are too heavily coated with starch, you can brush off the excess with a pastry brush.

It’s best to transfer the finished mochi into paper cups to prevent them from sticking together. Enjoy your mochi with matcha green tea flavor!
