Ingredients

Gingerbread House

  • Sugar – 30 g
  • Powdered sugar – 30 g
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Corn flour – 85 g
  • Wheat flour – 300 g
  • Honey – 250 g
  • Baking powder – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Gingerbread spice – 3 teaspoons
  • Lard – 60 g

Icing

  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Powdered sugar – 300 g
  • Lemon – 0.5 pcs.

Preparation

Step 1: Prepare the Dough In a saucepan, pour powdered sugar and add butter. Once the butter melts, pour in the honey. Heat until it reaches a temperature of about 45°C. In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients. Add the honey, butter, sugar mixture, and immediately add one egg. Mix thoroughly and knead the dough into a smooth ball shape. Wrap it in plastic wrap and set aside for about an hour.

Step 2: Cut Out Individual Elements Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 5-7 mm. Use templates to cut out individual elements. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the prepared elements on it. Separate the egg white from the yolk, brush the elements of the house with the egg white. Bake in an oven preheated to 170°C for 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the individual elements.

Step 3: Prepare the Icing In a bowl, add two egg whites and a tablespoon of powdered sugar. While beating, add another tablespoon of powdered sugar. Finally, add a few drops of lemon juice and beat briefly until the ingredients are combined. Transfer the icing to a piping bag.

Step 4: Assemble the Gingerbread House Pour sugar into a dry pan. Do not stir, wait for it to melt. You can trim the baked elements to fit together better. Glue the elements together using the caramel formed from melted sugar. Decorate with icing.
