Meringue Roses

This recipe is a celebration of flavours, perfect for those who appreciate the elegance of a dessert that’s as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate. Quick to make and even quicker to disappear, these meringue roses are a charming addition to any table.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup freeze-dried strawberries
  • 1 pack strawberry gelatine
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 cup melted dark chocolate chips

Method:

Preheat the oven to 225°F (107°C). Line baking sheets with baking paper.

Powder sugar and strawberries; fold in gelatin.

Beat the egg whites until stiff; fold in the strawberry mixture until stiff peaks form.

Pipe 2-inch roses onto baking trays; bake for 40-45 minutes.

Turn off oven and leave meringues to stand for 1.5 hours.

Dip meringues in chocolate; allow to set on waxed paper.
