Featuring tender diced apples cooked to perfection in butter and cinnamon, combined with creamy oats and a hint of brown sugar, this dish brings the comforting flavours of autumn straight to your breakfast table.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 apple, diced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk or water
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Caramel sauce, for drizzling
Method:
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Add the apple cubes and ground cinnamon. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
Pour in the milk or water and bring to the boil.
Stir in the oats and a pinch of kosher salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the oats are creamy and tender, about 5 minutes.
Stir in brown sugar until dissolved.
Remove from heat and spoon the oatmeal into bowls.
Drizzle over the caramel sauce.
