Apple Crescent Cookies

Apple Crescent Cookies

Cookies made from quark dough with apples and powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Approximately 40 pieces:

  • flour, 250 g
  • butter, 250 g
  • quark cheese, 250 g
  • vanilla sugar, 1 packet

Also:

  • apples, 2
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Preparation

Sift the flour onto a pastry board, add the vanilla sugar and butter. Chop with a knife into small pieces. Add the quark cheese and chop together. Quickly knead the dough into a ball. The dough will be sticky. Wrap in foil and refrigerate.

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Peel the apples, cut into quarters, remove the cores, and cut each quarter into strips about 3-4 mm wide.

Divide the dough into 2 parts and roll out each part on a floured board with a floured rolling pin. The dough should be about 1/2 centimeter thick. Use a glass to cut out circles (like for dumplings), place a piece of apple in the center of each circle, and seal the dough in the middle. Arrange on two thin baking trays and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar. The crescents are best right after baking.
