Indulge in the vibrant flavours of summer with this delicious Strawberry Mint Sangria. This refreshing cocktail combines the sweetness of fresh strawberries, the herbal essence of mint and the crispness of dry white wine to create a perfect blend of flavours that is both cooling and invigorating.
Ingredients:
- 1lb sliced strawberries (halved)
- 1 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves (halved)
- 2 oz simple syrup
- Ice
- 1 (750 ml) bottle of dry white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc
- 1 1/2 cups (12 oz) soda water
- 2 oz St Germain elderflower liqueur
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
Method:
In a pitcher, combine half of the sliced strawberries (about 1/2 lb) and half of the fresh mint leaves (about 1/2 cup). Reserve the remaining strawberries and mint leaves for garnishing.
Gently muddle the strawberries and mint leaves in the pitcher using a muddler or the back of a spoon. This will help release their flavours.
Add the simple syrup and squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the pitcher. Stir gently to combine.
Pour the entire bottle of dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc) into the pitcher. Add the St Germain elderflower liqueur. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Refrigerate the sangria for at least 1-2 hours to allow the flavours to meld. This step will help develop a more harmonious flavour.
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the chilled sangria over the ice, making sure the muddled strawberries and mint leaves are distributed throughout each glass.
Fill each glass with soda water for a refreshing fizz.
Garnish each glass with a few slices of the remaining strawberries, mint leaves and lemon slices.
Gently stir before drinking to mix the flavours. Sip and enjoy the delicious combination of fruity strawberries, aromatic mint and crisp white wine.
