These buttery treats capture the essence of autumn in every bite, with a rich maple flavour that’s both comforting and indulgent. The smooth glaze adds just the right touch of sweetness, making these cookies the perfect accompaniment to your favourite hot beverage.
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar, plus 1 tablespoon for icing
- 1 teaspoon maple flavouring
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine the flour and cornstarch.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, sugar and 3/4 cup icing sugar until light and fluffy.
Stir in the maple flavouring.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the icing, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon icing sugar with the maple syrup until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies.
